Course Details
The Collie Rotary Adventure Race in 2026 is a 4 stage event.
START TIME IS 8:00 AM !
If you are lucky enough to have participated in the Collie Adventure Race in earlier years, you may remember it as a 5 stage race including a road cycle or going back even further there was the option of a 6 stage race with a horse riding leg. In its longer form we had a very civilized lunch break, followed by a mass start for the swim leg.
The race is now held with only 4 stages. This means there is no break and
no mass start for the swim.
The event will begin with a mass start for the kayak leg and continue through each stage until all stages are completed.
Kayak
This first leg begins with a mass start at Sandy Beach on the calm sweep of Minninup Pool.
You set out on a 10 km bridge‑to‑bridge loop, paddling along the Collie River as cool, clear water slides beneath your kayak and the reflections of trees drift past your bow.
The river is beautifully flat and welcoming; you might meet a little weed here and there, so a tilt‑up rudder keeps your glide smooth and easy.
Mountain Bike
This year’s MTB leg follows a similar course to 2025 with the short single track behind the rowing shed moving to the start.
The 23.5km ride begins at Minninup Pool and heads through old‑school single track behind the rowing shed, pops out behind the event village and continues along single track to Griffin Bridge. Ride under the bridge before picking up the Kylie Trail. The Kylie Trail is a green/blue purpose‑built flow section. The race uses the green line only, keeping the course accessible and fast.
The return loop takes you through fire trails in native conservation park, then back onto single track to the Event Village. Expect a mix of sandy and rocky terrain and a couple of hill climbs — it wouldn’t be Collie without them.
E-Bikes - To encourage participation E-bikes will be allowed to compete provided they are not chipped or speed modified.
Swim
The swim begins and ends at Minninup Pool, with no mass start — the moment you finish your MTB leg, you head straight for the water.
You’ll complete a 1 km loop in the picturesque Collie River, slipping into cool, clear water framed by trees and soft river light. It’s a refreshing contrast after the ride, and the calm pool makes for an inviting, steady swim.
While mid‑March usually brings warm weather, the river can still hold a chill, so a wetsuit may be a wise choice.
Run
This is the final leg of the event. You will begin your run leg at Minningup Pool and head out on an exciting trail run that incorporates a short section of the wonderful Wilman Bilya Trail.
Be prepared for a picturesque 11km run through single bush tracks and open air. Terrain varies from sand to pea gravel and uneven ground. You even get to run across the Kaniyang Wilman Suspension Bridge.
Remember Collie is home to pea gravel and undulation. The run will end at Minningup Pool where your team and/or supporters can celebrate your finish.
